What does Print and Sip workshop looks like?

After being warmly welcomed and settled by your lovely host, you're given a brief but informative introduction to lino printing. Next you chose your design either one of our designs (all designs have examples on the end print to help with your choice and skill level) or bring your own 15x15cm design.

We spend the first half of the class carving the designs. For beginners or those who are less familiar with carving you are given a practice piece of lino to use first before you go into your chosen design. In this half of the workshop you are guided through types of tools and how to carve.

After a short break we go into the second half of the class with printing. Loz will guided you through how to print and importance of materials. We have an array of coloured water-based inks to choose from and print on Japanese printing paper to give the best possible prints. Once printing is done, you’re taken through how to clean you block and tools while your prints dry.

After the two hour session you will leave with a new skill, your lino block (which you can use to print with again) and 3 prints!

What is Lino Printing?

Lino printing, also known as linocut, is a versatile and captivating art form that requires precision and creativity. This technique involves carving a design into a linoleum block and then applying ink to the raised surface. The intricate carvings create a unique texture and depth, giving each print a distinctive quality. The medium was popularised in the 1890’s, lino printing offers artists the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of styles, from bold and graphic compositions to delicate and intricate patterns.
